Description

Assumes responsibility for supporting & growing the application business in all departments with a focus on coordinating and directing the workload of Application Equipment Technicians in the Service Department for maximum efficiency and productivity, while providing high quality repair work. Performs diagnostics, service repairs and maintenance work on customer and/or dealer-owned agricultural equipment.

Responsibilities:

  • Assign jobs and work areas to Application Equipment technicians according to skills and knowledge

  • Appraise repair orders coming into the Service Department for Application Equipment

  • Review repair orders for accuracy and completeness

  • Assist the Service Manager in hiring technicians and overseeing their development and training; conduct annual reviews for assigned direct reports and give regular feedback on their job performance

  • Direct and assist technicians in the diagnosis and repair of equipment and assist in their development

  • Inspect and repair all special tools and recommend new tooling as required

  • Conduct in-house Application Equipment technician training

  • Fill in for the Service Manager in their absence

  • Approve the release of Application Equipment for delivery to the customer

  • Assist the Service Manager in reviewing work orders for completeness and accuracy prior to customer billing

  • Assist the Service Manager in ensuring all Service Warranty and Product Improvement Program claims are submitted within the required timeframe to receive maximum credit

  • Performs complex diagnostics and repairs on agricultural equipment including both new and existing Ag Management Solutions (AMS) products

  • Assist other technicians with unresolved issues and is viewed as an expert on diagnostics

  • Supports customers with machine setup and optimization

  • Rework is limited to less than 1%

  • Has a strong understanding of how to use Service Advisor, regularly submits well-prepared DTAC Cases, and instructs peers on how to utilize Service Advisor and submit well-prepared DTAC Cases
  • Has clear communication with Service Manager, Service Clerk, Sales Representatives, Customers , Field Representatives,


Experience, Education, Skills and Knowledge:

  • 5+ years’ experience as a Service Technician

  • Familiar with John Deere and competitive Application products

  • Ability to lead and develop others

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Associate’s Degree required
