Description

At Plains Equipment Group we are differentiating ourselves through our people, our partnership, and our performance. We are looking for a Precision Ag Manager to join our team in Lincoln. In this role you will assume overall responsibility for the operational performance of the Precision Ag department. You will be responsible for growth of whole goods sales through internal and external training on the agronomic value of the John Deere Product line and Precision Ag technology integration.

In this position you will:

  • Develop and implement business strategies and objectives to build the market position and drive the financial and operational performance of the Precision Ag and Sales departments.

  • Work with Executive Team, Function Managers and District Managers to coordinate the strategies and objectives of the department with the rest of the organization.
  • Create, monitor and deliver upon business plans and budgets for the Precision Ag department.

  • Lead the development and implementation of Precision Ag solutions throughout the organization, identifying customer and market needs and developing, introducing and ensuring the adoption of comprehensive products, services and solutions.

  • Determine appropriate staffing levels for maximum effectiveness and performance; implement staffing plans.

  • Provide direct leadership to the Precision Ag Department personnel; Hire, develop and coach a high performing team.

  • Oversee the development of ongoing training for all departments to increase the agronomic professionalism of the dealership and mainstream Precision Ag products, services and solutions into the core of the business.

  • Oversee the development and execution of equipment and technology field trials and other events for customers to demonstrate the value of John Deere solutions; leverage the opportunities to solidify Plains credibility with the customer and to increase sales.

  • Work with marketing to effectively market and promote Precision Ag products and services.

  • Ensure performance and results of current and new initiatives in the Precision Ag department are of a consistent high quality; address and resolve performance gaps.

  • Monitor customer business activity and competitive business activity / products to identify and optimize growth and development opportunities.

  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies, processes and procedures as well as vendor programs, processes, and regulations.

  • Serve as the liaison between Plains and Deere for the ongoing coordination and execution of Deere Precision Ag related initiatives.

     

Requirements:

  • 5+ years' senior leadership experience in Precision Ag or related area

  • Demonstrated experience effectively leading, coaching and developing others

  • Ability to operate with a solutions approach and identify existing and emerging customer needs

  • Ability to think strategically and plan, budget and execute with practicality

  • Strong interpersonal, business acumen and communication skills

  • Strong analytical and organizational skills

  • Ability to work flexible hours and travel to store locations

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management; MBA preferred

  • Experience in the agricultural industry preferred but not required
